Mayor of Nemi Visits Centro Ad Gentes Nemi

Nemi, Italy—Alberto Bertucci, the Mayor of Nemi, visited Centro Ad Gentes Nemi to greet and welcome the Chapter participants. This visit marks the first time that the Mayor of Nemi has welcomed a group of Chapter participants from the four zones of the Society.

Father Paulus Budi Kleden, SVD, expressed gratitude on behalf of the Capitulars for the Mayor’s hospitality. Mayor Bertucci congratulated Father Kleden on his nomination as the Archbishop-elect of Ende and wished the participants a fruitful Chapter and successful election of the new Superior General. He commended the Chapter under the mediation of Santo Crocifisso, a beloved pilgrimage site in Nemi.

The Mayor also took the opportunity to promote Nemi, recently recognized as one of Italy’s most beautiful hilltop towns (Borghi). His visit was warmly received, with the Capitulars applauding his remarks.

Chapter Activities and Elections of Members for Committees

The Chapter participants, in a spirit of camaraderie, engaged in a series of activities designed to foster a deeper understanding and connection. The highlight was an unconventional bingo game held yesterday, which brought fun and gathered valuable information about each participant—the day commenced with an outdoor activity, symbolizing the unity and diversity of the Chapter, as participants formed a circular line from the oldest to the youngest.

The agenda, procedural rules, and working paper, crucial for the Chapter’s smooth functioning, were meticulously explained and unanimously approved. Recognizing their role’s significance, participants gathered in groups to discuss their expectations for the General Chapter. The day culminated with the election of members for the Steering and Drafting Committees, a pivotal step in shaping the Chapter’s future, with nominees presented by zones.
