Strengthening collaboration among PHC, PHN, PHS Formators
Formators from the Philippines-North (PHN), Philippines-Central (PHC), and Philippines-South (PHS) Provinces convened for a three-day assembly and inter-provincial meeting from April 1 to 3, 2024, at the SVD Tagaytay Community (STC). The gathering at various locations within SVD compound aimed to strengthen formation initiatives and foster collaboration among the formators. This year’s assembly was hosted by the PHC, under the leadership of Fr. Jerome A. Marquez, SVD, PHC Provincial Superior, who played a key role in the realization of the event.
The assembly kicked off on April 1, 2024, with a Formation Board Meeting, presided over by Fr. Samuel Agcaracar, SVD, Rector of STC. During this crucial meeting, the board members delved into matters important to the development of the Philippine SVD Formation Manual setting the stage for the rest of the assembly.
The second day of the event was packed with a series of sessions, expertly moderated by Fr. Severo Biton, Jr., SVD. These sessions saw the participants coming together for the approval of resolutions from the previous assembly, in-depth discussions on formation strategies, and the presentation of the draft of the Vision-Mission-Goals of the SVD Philippines Formation Manual. The day concluded with plans for implementation and discussions tailored to the specific formation levels of SVD. The planning set a solid foundation for future formation initiatives, underscoring the importance of the formators’ work.
Finally, the event culminated on April 3, 2024, with the focus shifting to the Inter-Provincial Meeting, aiming to confirm the resolutions and proposals that emerged from the assembly, further highlighting the impact of their collective efforts.
In an interview after the assembly, Fr. Agcaracar praised the formators for their invaluable contributions, active participation, and collaborative spirit. He attributed the success of the assembly to their presence and openness to work together, emphasizing their crucial role in responding to the Society’s call to make formation a priority and to produce a Formation Manual, following the mandate of the SVD Generalate in Rome.
